Crackberry

Blackberry Curve 8330

I had a new every two upgrade so I decided to get a new phone. With the online discount and the upgrade credit this bad boy only cost me $50.  It’s great, I love it, and am using every aspect as I learn it. Does anyone have any recommendations on applications or tips for me? Also, ringtones? How do you get new ones?

Thank you all for the kind words and the uplifting tips. Something good has got to come out of the bad. My cousin’s baby passed Friday and they decided to donate his organs. He saved four or five other little babies. Because of this I am going to be an organ donor. Taylor saved more than those babies because he inspired people like me to donate as well. Hopefully it will continue on. Donate Life.

Wow WordPress looks different.

It has been one hell of a year. One break up, one cross country move, three deaths, one surgery, and countless other things and I’m back in Florida. Not necessarily in that order either. I have always said 2008 would be the year of change but I didn’t think it would be like this. Hopefully the second half will be better with the election and autumn, my favorite season, coming up. I have not knit since December. All of my knitting things are still in Oregon with promises that they will be mailed back. I highly doubt they will anytime soon. Getting the itch, and unable to work on any of my wips, I went to Michaels bought some needles and yarn and started to knit the ballband dishcloth. It’s funny, I have to work a bit on my gauge and whatnot again.

Sorry for the absence. I will try to write more but this being a knitting blog and sadly barely any knitting going on there isn’t much to write about. Except life.  I want to get into the knitting world more again and I do miss it. I just need to get the ex to mail me my boxes!!

MOLD!

We’re moving into a hotel for about a week due to mold issues partially caused by a leaky dishwasher. I wanted to let everyone know so you wouldn’t think I’m not posting again! :) On another note, if anyone knows of a good place to rent around my location (for those of you who know my location) let me know. Living with the bf’s rents is getting old! Don’t get too crazy without me. I will have some knitting to post when I get back. Now off to pack!

Gratuitous sheep butt shot.

Blogstalking Week 2: Purse Guts

What happened to Week 1 you say? Week One’s topic is About Me. That’s what happened to it. ;)

A white mock quilted leather bag purchased from Urban Outfitters. It has lip gloss stains on the inside and Italian red wine stains on the outside. I was in a very animated conversation on knocked my glass over. Oops! Most of the wine has been cleaned off though. This is my most commonly used bag. I don’t really like the word purse although lately I’ve caught myself using it once or twice. I equally dislike the word panties. What the hell?! They’re underwear. We don’t call men’s underwear manties or some other weird made up word. I don’t get it. Maybe it’s just some of my pre-teen angst still sticking around. You’ll be glad to know some of that angst has left. I will wear skirts and dresses now and one day I just might get married.

On to the guts!

1-my bag

2-a red wallet gifted to me by my mom one Christmas

3-my nano, Ariel

4-sunglasses

5-my brush. Starting to see a red theme here? It’s my new favorite color! :)

6-my semi-new cell phone, the  LG enV. This phone rocks. I can hold it up to a song that’s playing and it will tell me the artist, song title, and album. Gone are the days when I hear a song on the radio and want to know the artist but can’t!

7-Bubblemint Orbit gum

8-two Butterfingers from a co-worker’s candy jar. I recently threw them away because I opened one to eat and it was crumbled. Who wants crumbly candy?!

9-a hair clip

10-a mirror I never use

11-a glass or crystal nail file. This sucker works pretty well.

12-three hair ties

13-two barrettes

14-two pens

15-two pennies

16-eye drops for contact wearing eye balls

17-$10 strengthening nail polish that doesn’t really seem to work

18-two Tide-To-Go pens. These little suckers rock!

19-Burt’s Bees hand sanitizing spray

20-Burt’s Bees hand lotion

21-a Burt’s Bees tinted chapstick

22-a Burt’s Bees regular chap stick

23-a Juicy Tube lip gloss

24-keys

25-a card thing to get into the office when the doors are locked.

25 listed items! My bag has now been exposed in all it’s stained glory. It’s been violated by total strangers. I think it’s time to get a new awesome fall bag. I love fall. The colors are changing the air is getting colder. I am starting to freeze! I don’t know how I’m going to handle winter!

I’ve been Blue Mooned!

Oregon Flock and Fiber

Had sheep, goats, rabbits, llamas, alpacas, and the occasional pet dog.

I like the sheep with the dreads and fros.

Did you know they Febreze sheep? I guess they get that not so fresh feeling.

The fabulous carrieknits was able to come as well! She is so much fun! Um, Carrie…I forgot which colors we picked for the chevron scarf! ;)

If only discoknits was able to make it! We missed you disco!

I came home from OFFF with two bars of soap, a homemade knitting card, a HUGE bag of kettle corn, one sale skein of Patagonia cotton,

and four skeins of Socks that Rock! I was looking for some heavyweight mill ends but they were all out by the time I got there. Maybe next time I’ll be able to scoop some up at the barn sale I keep hearing about.

As you read above, two of these are destined to become a chevron scarf. I know one is the one on the far right I think the other is the one next to it or the one on the far left. Those are all mediumweight. The second to the left is a lightweight. I love the color on that one. I can’t wait to learn socks to knit that baby up!

This picture is for good measure.

It was fascinating to watch people spin on these babies. I almost talked myself into getting a little “hank” of some silk roving. I say hank because it wasn’t a big ball of fluff. I stood there for about two minutes petting it. Mind you, I don’t spin. :)

Well, that’s my report on Oregon Flock and Fiber! Short sweet and to the point. I had a blast. It was awesome to finally meet Carrie. Her friend was equally nice as well. It wasn’t awkward at all meeting someone from blogland! If only I had more money to spend on yarn…

September 21, 2007

Back to our scheduled programming.

So I rear-ended someone on the way to work today.

It was a dwarf.

He got out of the car and said “I’m not happy.”

So I said “Then which one are you?”

A co-worker of mine had a bebe. I present to you a gifted feather and fan bonnet. I took this picture last minute as my camera batteries were dying. So the picture is a little dark.

Project Info

Pattern: Feather and Fan Bonnet

Yarn: RY Cashsoft Baby DK,  in a light purple color, about half a ball

Needles: US 6 Denise circs

Dimensions: baby head

Pattern Modifications: none at all

Time to knit: two days

I really enjoyed knitting this bonnet. I would knit it again for another baby which shouldn’t been a problem since I know a handful of people who are having girls. I really liked the feather and fan as well. It looks more complicated than it actually is which is nice. :)

Check out this package back from the Harry Potter Swap. It’s from Sirius/Not Hip.

Is that not the sweetest package you have ever seen?! I freaking got Socks that Rock! I’ve never seen it in real life before this package.

You should go check out her blog. She makes the coolest knitting shirts. I’m going to get a green one with the design towards the bottom of the shirt. Go check it out!

My job is going fairly well. Yesterday was hard because I got homesick all of a sudden at work and I was struggling to hold back the tears. I came home and told G to keep an eye on me and give me extra attention when I need it. He did and today was better. :)

I’m currently reading The Mermaids Singing after seeing it on Kelly Green Rogue’s blog.

I’m really excited for Oregon Flock and Fiber (or as I so fondly refer to it, OFFFF) this weekend! I will make sure to blog my purchases. :) Stacey we wish you could be there!!

I joined Knitty’s Blogstalking 2.0 so I should be blogging more. ;)

*That joke up top is one that Greg told me. He can take the credit for that one. I am horrible with jokes and didn’t even get it. He had to explain it to me!

Jet Lagged.

What a pain to get used to FL time and then have to come back and get used to Oregon time! ;)

This post is going to be super short. I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m back. I got in last night. yay. I also got a job and I start tomorrow! I had an interview over the phone and was hired. It is so random to me but so exciting. The company sounds really great and like it will be a lot of fun to work at.

I had loads of fun visiting my friends and family in Florida.

More to come later… Must finish laundry and go to sleep at a decent time for my big day tomorrow. I also have a billion blogs to read. Give me a couple days to catch up on those!

By the way, did anyone get Harry Potter? I’m on chapter 8 and am loving it so far! Speaking of HP, I got an amazing package from my HP swap pal!! Stay tuned..

Who knits a scarf in the summer?

I do! I do!

The fabulous Carrieknits sent me a skein of Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky. I set it on my dresser for a while and felt how soft it was. That could only last so long before I just had to knit it up! This was such a fun, easy knit. I knit most of it on a golf course while Greg was golfing! I love this scarf. It’s so soft and slinky.

Ooh aah.

Look at that rib pattern.

One last picture.

Project Info

Pattern: Misti Chunky Ribs and Ruffles Scarf

Yarn: Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky in grey. One skein.

Needles: US 13 Denise circs.

Dimensions: 2 1/2″ (not the ruffles) x 51″

Pattern Modifications: None

Time to knit: two days

I went on a job interview Monday that went exceptionally well. The staffing agency told me it was between another girl and myself. I hope to the stars above that I get this job. I don’t know how to handle it if I don’t.

In other good news, I’m going to Florida for two weeks in July. My former employer is flying me out, getting me a rental car, and paying me to train someone. Apparently the person they hired to replace me isn’t working out. I’m so excited! I’ll get to go to the baby shower of a childhood friend, meet my neice, visit my family, and celebrate my mom’s birthday with her! I’m even excited to visit my old LYS. The only downside is that Greg won’t be able to go. :(

I’ve been tagged by Carrieknits to do the birthday meme. The rules are to go to Wikipedia and type in your birthday month and day only. Then post 3 events, 2 births and one holiday that occurred on your birthday, then tag 5 friends.

My birthday: November 6

Events:

Births:

Holiday

I’m not going to tag anyone. Do it if you want though, it’s fun!

Should I be okay with this?

Your Score: Pure Nerd

60 % Nerd, 8% Geek, 17% Dork

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the “dork.” No-longer. Being smart isn’t as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!
